Johanna Lane Bushey Scholarship
The Johanna Lane Bushey Scholarship is an endowed scholarship set up by Dr. Glenn Bushey (president of UNC Asheville’s predecessor institution, Asheville-Biltmore College, from 1947 to 1962) in memory of his wife, Johanna Lane Bushey. Originally a scholarship for students from the Management & Accountancy Department who were interested in healthcare administration, it was changed in 2013 to be for Health and Wellness Promotion majors as more HWP majors were entering healthcare related fields than MGMT/ACCT majors. This scholarship is awarded to one or more full-time, off-campus, non-traditional age student(s) who show promise in the field of health care or health administration. In the spring semester, departmental faculty review nominations and award this scholarship based on merit and the above listed qualifications. The Bushey Scholarship is available for continuing students only. The nomination process begins at the end of the fall semester with self-nomination forms due in January and recipients notified in early February.
