Class of '11

I am currently working with the Student Environmental Center as the Sustainable Food and Landscape Coordinator doing community gardening on campus. I also work with Asheville ROOTS, a newly formulated community urban agriculture center, as the project development manager. Asheville ROOTS is located on a UNC Asheville property and will serve as an educational site, teaching sustainable agriculture to the Asheville community. I am passionate about food and finding solutions to make our food systems more sustainable. I plan on continuing my work with Asheville ROOTS and seeking other employment involving gardening. Eventually I would like to go to graduate school for sustainable agriculture or a related degree in food politics. The HWP Department has taught me the importance of looking at all dimensions of health, not just physical, and the importance of community development and leadership training.
